Rebecca leads comprehensive business development strategy for Degenkolb Engineers’ Northern California region, one of the nation’s most distinguished structural and earthquake engineering firms. As Regional Business Development Director, she directs strategic partnership development and client relationship management for a practice founded in 1940 with over 85 years of pioneering earthquake engineering innovation. Her role encompasses supporting a firm renowned for developing seismic building code provisions, pioneering innovative structural systems, and engineering resilient buildings that have saved hundreds of millions of dollars through superior seismic performance.
Her expertise spans strategic capture planning, proposal development, client relationship cultivation, and marketing coordination across healthcare, higher education, civic infrastructure, and advanced technology sectors. Rebecca brings specialized knowledge in structural engineering and seismic design marketing, with particular focus on healthcare facilities, educational institutions, and complex civic projects throughout Northern California. With a Bachelor of Arts in Graphic Design from California State University-Sacramento, she combines creative visual communications training with strategic business development expertise developed through progressive roles in civil engineering, architecture, and structural engineering firms.
Her comprehensive understanding of engineering project delivery, from concept through construction, enables effective business development leadership for complex structural challenges including seismic retrofits, innovative building systems, and mission-critical facilities requiring the highest performance standards.
Rebecca demonstrates professional dedication through her CPSM certification, joining an elite community of certified marketing professionals committed to advancing excellence in professional services marketing. Her certification reflects mastery of strategic business development principles and commitment to elevating industry marketing standards.
As Regional Business Development Director for a firm with over 85 years of earthquake engineering leadership, Rebecca contributes to positioning Degenkolb’s pioneering innovations in seismic design and building code development. Her work supports a legacy founded by Henry Degenkolb, whose earthquake reconnaissance missions and code committee leadership fundamentally transformed structural engineering practice nationwide. Rebecca helps communicate Degenkolb’s continuing tradition of “earthquake chasing” field investigations and active involvement in professional societies including Applied Technology Council, American Institute of Steel Construction, American Concrete Institute, and American Society of Civil Engineers.
Beyond her professional role, Rebecca’s career trajectory demonstrates versatility across multiple AEC disciplines. Starting as a graphics assistant in wastewater civil engineering, she progressed through roles spanning graphics, proposal coordination, and management at civil engineering and architecture firms before finding her calling in structural engineering marketing. Her journey from creating icons for membrane bioreactors to directing business development for seismic engineering innovation reflects adaptability and continuous professional growth.
Rebecca’s commitment to the Sacramento AEC community includes active engagement with networking events, professional development opportunities, and industry conferences where she connects stakeholders across engineering, banking, real estate, and construction sectors.
