Maximus Wins Contracts to Continue Medical Disability Exam Services for Veterans
TYSONS, Va. – Maximus (NYSE: MMS), a leading employer and provider of government services, today announced that VES, a Maximus Company, was re-awarded contracts for domestic Regions 1 through 4, collectively spanning the continental U.S., to continue providing Medical Disability Exam (MDE) services on behalf of the VBA. The cumulative value of the award to VES more than accommodates current and anticipated production volumes over the contract term and each of the four regional contracts include a one-year base with a single option year.
“Our singular focus at VES is to provide the best services to Veterans and Service members through the MDE program so the VBA has everything they need to make accurate benefits determinations”
VES has been a leading provider in Regions 1 through 4, in addition to the other two regions which remain under contract. As previously disclosed, Regions 1 through 4 were recompeted early given a surge in demand that reached volume caps in the contracts earlier than anticipated when they were originally awarded. Under these new contracts, which were effective January 1, 2025, VES will continue to provide uninterrupted service to the VBA.
The MDE program is a critical component of the VBA’s Compensation and Pension (C&P) program, which provides benefits to Veterans, their dependents, and survivors. Through the MDE program, the VBA receives medical evidence to determine the extent of permanent impairment, and thus the percentage of disability that defines the financial benefit a Veteran is awarded.
“I’m proud of our VES team for their dedication to the VBA’s mission and this award recognizes our ongoing successful partnership with the VBA,” remarked Bruce Caswell, President and CEO, Maximus. “We are proud to have earned the trust of the VBA as an effective and value-oriented partner while investing in ongoing operational enhancements to further improve the Veteran experience.”
“Our singular focus at VES is to provide the best services to Veterans and Service members through the MDE program so the VBA has everything they need to make accurate benefits determinations,” said Rob Nydam, Managing Director for VES Operations. “We are committed to continuing our work alongside the VBA to deliver high-quality services of vital importance to our nation’s Veterans. This is an exciting time for the program, as our collaboration with the VBA on technology and modernization presents an opportunity to enhance the superior services we’re providing our nation’s heroes.”
Acquired by Maximus in 2021, VES has held one or more MDE contracts continuously since 2008. In addition to the Regions 1 through 4 work, VES also performs MDEs on the Region 6 Pre-Discharge and Region 7 OCONUS (outside the continental U.S.) contracts which did not require replacement. Since the introduction of Sergeant First Class Heath Robinson Honoring our Promise to Address Comprehensive Toxics Act of 2022 (commonly known as the “The PACT Act”), the VBA has experienced an unprecedented surge in disability claims.
