Tim provides business growth planning, implementation, and rainmaking coaching as Principal of Growth Impact Partners, specializing in helping architecture, engineering, and construction firms develop structured, strategic paths to lasting growth and measurable impact. His consulting practice draws on over two decades of experience leading marketing and growth strategies for firms ranging from nimble startups through major national design-build partnerships and high-stakes public company projects, giving him comprehensive perspective across the full spectrum of AEC business development challenges.
His expertise spans marketing strategy development, executive leadership, business growth implementation, client relationship development, strategic planning, and team leadership for professional services firms seeking sustainable competitive advantages. Tim brings specialized knowledge gained from his 13-year tenure as Principal of Marketing at Timmons Group, where he helped drive the firm’s placement on the INC. 5000 list of America’s Fastest-Growing Private Companies for six consecutive years (2016-2021), demonstrating the measurable business impact of strategic marketing leadership and systematic execution.
With over 23 years of professional services marketing experience, he has built a distinguished career supporting engineering and construction firms throughout the Mid-Atlantic region and nationally. His comprehensive background includes seven years as Director of Marketing at William H. Gordon Associates (a Washington DC Top 20 engineering firm) and three years as Director of Marketing at ADTEK Engineers, where he developed foundational expertise in marketing operations, business development systems, and client relationship strategies that inform his consulting approach today.
Tim demonstrates exceptional professional leadership through his CPSM certification, SMPS Fellowship (FSMPS), and recognition as a Fellow of Johns Hopkins University Carey Business School, one of the nation’s premier business programs. His Johns Hopkins Fellow designation honors exceptional alumni who have made significant contributions to their professions and embody the university’s values of excellence, innovation, and service to society.
As Amazon Best Selling Author of “Network Like an Introvert: A New Way of Thinking about Business Relationships,” Tim has transformed how thousands of AEC professionals approach networking and client relationship development. The book, now in its second edition, challenges the conventional wisdom that extroverts make better networkers by demonstrating that effective networking is about building genuine relationships rather than collecting business cards. His revolutionary approach helps introverts leverage their natural strengths—listening, depth of conversation, and thoughtful follow-through—to build powerful professional networks that generate measurable business results.
Tim’s thought leadership extends through extensive publication in prominent industry media including the Washington Business Journal, CE News, Marketer Magazine, Commonwealth Contractor, MarketingNow, Business Owner Magazine, A/E Rainmaker, and the Design & Construction Report. His contributions to the SMPS Marketing Handbook (contributing author on Lead Tracking and Client Relationship Management, 3rd Edition, 2009) provide foundational guidance for AEC marketing professionals implementing CRM systems and business development processes.
As founder of the Design and Construction Network, a professional networking organization that has grown to over 10,000 members, Tim created infrastructure for sustained relationship building across the AEC industry throughout the Mid-Atlantic region. This networking platform demonstrates his commitment to building community and facilitating connections that advance careers, create business opportunities, and strengthen the entire professional services ecosystem.
