Terry brings comprehensive client development leadership to Terracon, a 100 percent employee-owned consulting engineering firm that consistently ranks as a Top 20 design firm by Engineering News-Record. As Client Success Manager for Terracon’s Nebraska operations, he manages client development activities, national account relationships, and industry board engagement while developing a client-centric culture across technical teams spanning environmental, facilities, geotechnical, and materials services.

His expertise encompasses strategic business development planning, relationship management for public and private sector clients, trade show and promotional event coordination, and staff training in business development practices. Terry serves as major project pursuit champion for Terracon’s northern division covering Nebraska, Iowa, and Minnesota, bringing expertise in multi-state client development and regional coordination.

With over 27 years of AEC industry experience, his career progression includes roles at M.E. GROUP, TSP, Bahr Vermeer Haecker Architects, and HDR Architecture, where he spent nearly six years creating marketing proposals and presentations. His journalism background from Creighton University provides strong written and verbal communication skills essential for client relationship building and proposal development across Terracon’s diverse portfolio of infrastructure, energy, commercial, institutional, and industrial projects.

Industry leadership

Terry was honored in the 2024 SMPS Class of Fellows, representing the highest level of professional recognition within the Society for Marketing Professional Services. This prestigious achievement recognizes his sustained commitment to advancing AEC marketing excellence through leadership, education, and service over 24+ years of active SMPS participation.

His SMPS leadership journey began in 2000 when he joined as a member while working at HDR Architecture. With the support of his manager at Terracon, Terry rejoined the SMPS Nebraska board and served as Chapter President during the 2013-2014 program year, providing strategic direction for one of the Missouri Valley region’s active chapters. His decade of board service includes presentations on critical business development topics including “Debriefing with Clients,” where he taught the importance of scheduling client debriefings, effective questioning techniques, and utilizing feedback for continuous improvement.

Beyond SMPS, Terry has demonstrated leadership in economic development, serving on the Board of Directors for Grow Sarpy, a local economic development entity focused on business growth and community prosperity in the Omaha metropolitan area. He has also participated in planning and sponsorship committees for the National Rural Economic Developers Association (NREDA), connecting AEC industry expertise with rural community development initiatives.

Terry co-chaired the 2015 SMPS Missouri Valley Regional Conference, providing educational programming and networking opportunities for hundreds of AEC marketing professionals across the region. His conference leadership demonstrates his commitment to advancing professional development beyond his local chapter.

Colleagues describe Terry as a gifted business development professional with diverse experience in both marketing and business development, noting his strong reputation in the Omaha community and his ability to know what it takes to win work. His expertise in client development has helped position Terracon for sustained growth in competitive markets.
