Sharon leads comprehensive marketing and business development strategy as Group Manager of Building Marketing for O&G Industries, one of the Northeast’s largest construction companies and a consistent Engineering News-Record Top 400 contractor for over 50 years. Founded in 1923 and headquartered in Torrington, Connecticut, O&G is a private, family-owned construction and construction materials company with over 900 highly skilled professionals and bonding capacity exceeding $2 billion.
Her marketing leadership encompasses proposal management, shortlist interview preparation, marketing research, and CRM-based business intelligence across O&G’s Building Division. Sharon brings expertise in developing qualification packages, managing SF330 submissions, coordinating RFP/RFQ/RFI responses, and maintaining the firm’s marketing library as keeper of the company’s 100-year construction heritage. With nearly 28 years of AEC industry experience spanning both construction and architecture, she brings a comprehensive perspective that deepens understanding of complex project delivery.
Working closely with marketing partner Sandy Collins and reporting to Vice President Aaron Mednick, Sharon manages multiple concurrent proposal deadlines while maintaining certifications, updating personnel resumes, and attending industry events for professional development and relationship building. Her career progression includes significant leadership roles at prominent Connecticut construction and architecture firms, including over two decades at Caldwell & Walsh Building Construction and director-level positions at QA+M Architecture.
Sharon demonstrates exceptional professional leadership through her CPSM certification achievement and distinguished service to SMPS Connecticut, including her role as Chapter President during the 2017-2018 program year. Her leadership has been recognized with the prestigious Grace Waldvogel Member of the Year Award for the 2015-2016 program year, honoring her distinguished contributions to advancing professional services marketing throughout Connecticut’s AEC community.
As SMPS Connecticut Chapter President, Sharon provided strategic leadership to one of the Northeast’s most established chapters, founded in 1983 and serving the professional development needs of marketing and business development professionals throughout the state. Her board service has included active participation on programs, membership, and leadership committees, while also engaging regularly in local, regional, and national SMPS events that elevate the profession.
Most recently, Sharon was honored with the James Bancroft Lifetime Achievement Award at the 2022 SMPS Connecticut Professional Achievement Awards, recognizing her sustained contributions to the chapter and the broader AEC industry over her nearly three-decade career. This prestigious recognition celebrates her enduring impact on advancing marketing excellence and professional development within Connecticut’s construction community.
Her comprehensive career journey reflects remarkable growth from administrative assistant fresh out of Westfield State University to senior marketing leadership. Sharon’s philosophy of continuous learning and professional development has driven her advancement through multiple construction and architecture firms, bringing valuable cross-disciplinary perspective from experience on both sides of the AEC industry. Her transition between construction and architecture deepened her industry knowledge, though she has found construction to be the better fit for her collaborative approach to proposal development and business development.
Sharon’s marketing leadership focuses on connecting the dots, making meaningful connections, and communicating O&G’s value through compelling qualifications and proposal messaging. Her gratification comes from chasing projects, contributing to pursuit efforts, and later touring realized buildings—driving by completed projects serves as a reminder of the importance of construction work and its positive impact on communities throughout the Northeast.
