Founded in 2000 by Rob Cronk and Mark Galle with a foundational commitment to exceptional customer service, Design West Engineering has evolved into a leading West Coast engineering firm recognized for technical excellence, innovative technology adoption, and client-focused delivery. Shannon’s marketing leadership supports this mission by positioning Design West’s multidisciplinary capabilities and ensuring consistent brand communication across all markets and services.
Shannon demonstrates exceptional professional leadership through her CPSM certification earned in 2021 and transformative service as Past President of SMPS Inland Empire, one of the youngest chapters in the SMPS national organization. Her presidential leadership during 2020-2021 guided the chapter through unprecedented pandemic challenges while achieving historic recognition as the 2021 Pivot & Focus Grand-Prize Chapter Winner—the first time the smallest and youngest chapter ever captured this prestigious national award.
Under Shannon’s leadership, SMPS Inland Empire demonstrated remarkable resilience and innovation during COVID-19, developing virtual programming, maintaining member engagement, and delivering exceptional value despite pandemic constraints. Her quote upon receiving the grand prize captured the achievement: “As the smallest and youngest chapter to ever capture the grand prize award, I am so proud of the hard work our board has put in.”
Shannon continues her regional leadership as a Chapter Leader Symposium (CLS) Cohort Leader representing SMPS Inland Empire alongside chapters including SMPS Alabama, Idaho, Nebraska, Ozarks, and Wichita. This multi-year national responsibility involves mentoring incoming chapter presidents, sharing best practices, and supporting leadership development across multiple geographic regions—reflecting trust in her proven leadership capabilities.
Her commitment to professional certification education extends through active involvement with the Pacific Regional CPSM Study Group, where she serves on the committee supporting candidates across Alaska, Hawaii, Idaho, Inland Empire, Las Vegas, Los Angeles, Orange County, Oregon, Sacramento, San Diego, San Francisco, and Seattle chapters. This volunteer service helps aspiring CPSMs prepare for certification examinations through virtual discussions, domain reviews, and peer learning opportunities.
Shannon’s leadership extends to the SMPS Pacific Regional Conference (PRC) Marketing and Communications Committee, contributing to one of the region’s premier professional development events that attracts 350-500 AEC marketing professionals annually. Her PRC committee service involves strategic communications planning, marketing campaign development, and promotional activities that drive conference attendance and engagement across the 12-chapter Pacific Region.
As a 10+ year AEC industry veteran, Shannon brings strategic perspective gained through progressive marketing experience supporting engineering firms across multiple market sectors. Her leadership philosophy emphasizes collaboration, innovation, and service—values that have driven both chapter excellence and personal professional growth.
