Professional expertise

Krystle brings exceptional multi-market marketing leadership and strategic business development expertise to civil engineering, currently serving as Marketing Director for KPFF Consulting Engineers’ Los Angeles, San Diego, Austin, and New York City Civil Engineering offices. In this role, she oversees and directs comprehensive marketing and business development efforts across multiple high-growth metropolitan markets, positioning KPFF’s civil engineering capabilities in transportation, water resources, and municipal infrastructure sectors.

Her comprehensive expertise spans proposal management, technical writing, program management, business development, and team leadership with over 18 years of experience in the AEC industry. Krystle specializes in helping professionals find their creative potential and telling compelling stories through great design and architecture, translating complex engineering solutions into engaging narratives that resonate with clients and communities.

With an MBA from Keller Graduate School of Management and additional certifications including PCM (Professional Certified Marketer) and CF APMP (Certified Foundation in Proposal Management), Krystle excels at integrated marketing strategy, content creation, and stakeholder engagement. Her passion lies in creating award-winning entries, developing marketing talent, and fostering collaboration and inclusion in professional services environments.

Industry leadership

Krystle demonstrates extraordinary professional leadership through both her CPSM certification and her prestigious FSMPS designation as a member of the 2021 Class of SMPS Fellows, representing the highest level of achievement in AEC marketing. As a Fellow of SMPS, she has been recognized for sustained excellence and exceptional contributions to advancing the professional services marketing profession through transformative thought leadership, national publication authorship, and dedicated professional development mentorship.

Her most significant leadership achievement comes through her role as a national thought leader and prolific writer for the SMPS Marketer Journal, where she has published multiple influential articles including “How Agile Work Environments Foster Collaboration and Inclusion,” “How to Create an Award-Winning Entry: Tips from a Judge,” “Five Tips To Make Your Email Stand Out in an Overflowing Inbox,” “Declutter Your CRM To Increase Productivity,” “10 Ways To Prepare Yourself for the Minimalist Workplace,” and the deeply personal “How Being Filipino Has Kept Me Humble”—each offering practical frameworks and authentic perspectives that have influenced AEC marketing practices nationwide.

As a member of the SMPS Marketer© Committee, Krystle helps shape the editorial direction and content strategy for the Society’s award-winning journal that reaches over 7,300 SMPS members and an additional 6,000 readers through pass-along circulation. Her committee service ensures the publication delivers original, knowledge-based content relevant to A/E/C professionals while maintaining the high standards that make Marketer regularly cited as the top benefit of SMPS membership.

Krystle’s SMPS chapter leadership includes serving as SMPS Programs Director, where she was responsible for creating worthwhile monthly educational programs serving a membership of 100 members, ensuring each event had venue, food/beverages, and all logistical elements for successful occasions. Her programs provided guidance on the Six Domains of Practice while maintaining high educational value and member engagement.

Her profound commitment to professional development extends through leading CPSM Study Groups, where she has personally mentored numerous professionals through the certification process, serving as an educator who guides aspiring CPSMs through exam preparation and professional growth. Her study group leadership has helped elevate certification rates and professional standards throughout her chapters.

Beyond SMPS, Krystle serves as SMPS Marketing Communications Awards Juror, where she evaluates award entries and provides critical insights on what makes submissions successful. Her judging experience has informed her own award-winning work and her published guidance on creating exceptional entries.

Her thought leadership extends to national speaking engagements including SMPS learning labs on storytelling and “Two Cents in Two Minutes” presentations that share concise, actionable insights with SMPS members nationwide. She has also been featured as a podcast guest on “A Cup of Confidence,” sharing her journey of professional growth and self-advocacy.

Krystle’s community leadership demonstrates comprehensive impact beyond professional marketing. She serves as Content Manager at Detroit Mom, managing a community of contributing writers and podcasters including responsibility for The Unfiltered Mom Podcast, the Getting Comfortable with the Uncomfortable Facebook live series, and content like Therapy Thursdays and the Parenting Post. In this role, she creates supportive and inspiring communities while securing podcast sponsors and managing editorial teams.

Her civic engagement includes serving as a Girl Scout Troop Leader, where she mentors young minds on STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Math) topics and entrepreneurship, and as Hospitality Chair for her daughter’s school PTO, demonstrating commitment to developing future leaders and strengthening community connections.
