Professional expertise

Kristin leads comprehensive marketing and corporate brand strategy for Dunaway, supporting the firm’s mission of shaping Texas communities through innovation and design excellence. As Director of Marketing and Associate Principal for a multi-discipline professional services firm established in 1956 with 385+ employees across eight Texas offices, she oversees innovative, effective, and measurable corporate marketing strategies, campaign development, and solutions that position Dunaway for competitive advantage across civil engineering, structural engineering, planning and landscape architecture, survey, right of way, and construction inspection markets.

Her expertise spans AEC marketing, brand strategy and positioning, digital media, and graphic design with deep specialization in creative problem-solving and strategic communications. Kristin brings comprehensive knowledge of professional services marketing best practices gained through 15+ years of progressive experience that includes roles in both B2B and B2C marketing before finding her “sweet spot” in the architecture, engineering, and construction industry.

Her educational foundation from the University of Texas at Arlington—where she studied architecture for three years before discovering her passion for graphic design through an elective course—provides distinctive capabilities in understanding both the technical design process and the visual communication strategies needed to translate complex engineering concepts into compelling client narratives. This unique background enables Kristin to bridge the gap between technical excellence and strategic marketing in ways that resonate with diverse stakeholder audiences.

Industry leadership

Kristin demonstrates exceptional professional leadership through her CPSM certification and sustained active engagement with SMPS North Texas (Fort Worth), where she serves on the board contributing to one of the region’s most influential chapters. Her commitment to advancing professional services marketing excellence extends beyond chapter involvement to include significant community leadership through her participation in Leadership Fort Worth’s Leading Edge 2020 Class—a prestigious program that develops emerging leaders committed to making Fort Worth a better place to live and work.

Kristin’s professional philosophy centers on staying current with industry trends, resources, and best practices. She actively studies the Markendium domain books and other SMPS educational materials, demonstrating commitment to maintaining expertise across all facets of professional services marketing—from business development and strategic positioning to proposal management and client relationship development.

Her leadership at Dunaway has contributed to the firm’s significant growth and evolution, including major milestones such as the 2024 acquisition of CRIADO & Associates (a successful Dallas-based public infrastructure firm founded in 2001 by President and CEO Cristina Criado, PE), and the firm’s celebration of 70 years of shaping Texas communities through innovation and design excellence in 2026. These achievements reflect marketing leadership that supports strategic growth while honoring legacy and heritage.

Kristin’s work-life integration reflects authentic values and priorities. As a mother of two young boys (including a son born during the pandemic), she embraces the joys and challenges of parenting while maintaining professional excellence. Her weekend activities include exploring Dunaway’s “awesome park portfolio” with her family—a practice that demonstrates both appreciation for the firm’s project work and commitment to experiencing the built environment from a user perspective that informs her marketing approach.
