Her expertise spans pursuit strategy, proposal management, presentation coaching, people management and development, and team building with deep specialization gained through 30 years of experience across both design and construction firms. Kim brings comprehensive knowledge of AEC marketing best practices, having previously served as Regional Marketing Director for the East Region of JE Dunn Construction where she oversaw marketing and communications for seven offices: Atlanta, Nashville, Charlotte, Savannah, Tampa, Raleigh, and Charleston.
With a career characterized by strategic thinking, team leadership, and client relationship excellence, Kim has built a distinguished reputation throughout the Southeast construction and engineering communities. Her educational foundation—a Bachelor of Arts in Communication from East Carolina University—provides strong grounding in strategic communications that enhances her marketing leadership effectiveness across complex engineering and construction pursuits.
Kim’s proven track record includes developing winning pursuit strategies, managing high-stakes proposal efforts, coaching presentation teams for major project interviews, and building marketing teams that drive sustainable business growth. Her expertise in people management and development has cultivated marketing talent throughout the Southeast, with many professionals she’s mentored advancing to senior leadership roles across the AEC industry.
Kim demonstrates exceptional professional leadership through her CPSM certification earned in 2007 and sustained commitment to SMPS Atlanta spanning more than two decades. As SMPS Atlanta Chapter President during 2007-2008, she led one of the nation’s most active chapters during a critical period, providing strategic vision and collaborative leadership that strengthened professional development programming, member engagement, and industry connections throughout the Atlanta market.
Her multi-year board service included Director of Programs (coordinating educational programming and monthly events), Director of Chapter Development (fostering chapter growth and member recruitment), and ultimately Chapter President—demonstrating progressive leadership responsibility and sustained commitment to advancing AEC marketing excellence in the Southeast. This comprehensive board experience positioned Kim as a respected voice in Atlanta’s construction and engineering communities.
As a member of SMPS since 2000 (25+ years of continuous engagement), Kim represents one of the organization’s most dedicated long-term members, having witnessed and contributed to SMPS’s evolution from early days through today’s sophisticated professional development ecosystem. Her quarter-century of SMPS involvement reflects deep belief in the value of professional community, continuous learning, and relationship building across the AEC industry.
Beyond chapter leadership, Kim demonstrates thought leadership through active participation in industry panels and educational programs. Her June 2024 presentation on “Hitting Your Target with Effective Capture Planning” shared insights on pursuit strategy and proposal management with emerging AEC marketers, emphasizing practical frameworks for business development success. Her April 2021 panel on “Clients Talk Back” brought owner perspectives directly to marketing professionals, helping firms understand client decision-making processes and improve pursuit effectiveness.
Kim’s commitment to professional development extends to mentoring emerging marketers throughout her career. Her leadership philosophy centers on people development, team building, and creating opportunities for others to grow—values reflected in her formal SMPS leadership roles and informal mentorship relationships across the Southeast AEC community.
As a rescue dog advocate, Kim shares her Atlanta home with two rescue Schnauzer mixes—Rudy and Kevin (formerly Cooper and Rudy)—demonstrating compassion for animals and commitment to rescue organizations. This personal value of giving back extends from her professional mentorship to her companion animal advocacy.
