Professional expertise

Keri leads strategic marketing consulting at MARKETLINK, a firm she co-founded in 2003 that specializes exclusively in serving architects, engineers, and contractors throughout the United States. As co-founder and owner, she provides comprehensive marketing guidance ranging from business development and client relationship management to staff training and candidate recruiting, helping AEC firms of all sizes build their businesses with integrity and measurable results.

Her consulting expertise spans strategic planning, proposal development, capture planning, market research, marketing department organization, and staff training across all AEC disciplines including civil engineering, architecture, construction, surveying, and land development. Keri works with clients ranging from small specialized firms to large multi-office practices, bringing deep knowledge of the technical industry and proven methodologies for revenue growth.

With over 35 years of Utah AEC industry experience, she has held marketing leadership positions at prominent firms including Jensen Haslem + Cannon, Naylor Wentworth Lund Architects, JHCH Architects, and Eckhoff, Watson and Preator Engineering. Her comprehensive understanding of both marketing strategy and technical services enables her to bridge the gap between business development goals and operational execution, creating sustainable competitive advantage for her clients.

Industry leadership

Keri holds the prestigious Fellow of SMPS (FSMPS) designation, representing the highest level of professional recognition within the Society for Marketing Professional Services. This distinguished honor, awarded by a jury of peers, recognizes her exceptional 35-year contribution to advancing AEC marketing excellence and requires a minimum of 10 years of active SMPS participation and five years of CPSM certification.

As a founding member of SMPS Utah when the chapter was chartered in 1990, Keri has been instrumental in building one of the industry’s most vibrant professional communities. She served on the chapter board of directors for 18 years in various capacities, including serving as Chapter President for three different terms. She has held every board position and served on every committee, demonstrating comprehensive leadership across all aspects of chapter operations. Her most recent board role as Director of Communications and Southwest Regional Conference Chair showcases her continued commitment to advancing the profession.

Keri’s leadership extends to creating lasting legacies within SMPS Utah, including helping establish the Marion Cook Emerging Professional Scholarship, which awards annual SMPS memberships to up-and-coming marketing professionals. This scholarship honors the late Marion Cook, a beloved chapter member and mentor, embodying the principle: “Do what you love and love what you do.”

As an accomplished speaker and coach, Keri has presented at SMPS conferences, AIA events, and IIDA programs, sharing her expertise in marketing strategy, client relationships, and business development. Her book recommendation “Clientship: Building Client Service Bridges to Profitability” is widely shared among AEC professionals, reflecting her commitment to educating the next generation of industry marketers.

Keri’s dedication to professional development and mentorship is evident in her approach to SMPS involvement. She credits the organization with providing the education and networking essential to her career success, noting that “without the education I have received from SMPS, I don’t know how I would have learned this technical industry.”
