Katie leads comprehensive marketing and business development strategies for Moriyama Teshima Architects, one of Canada’s most internationally recognized architecture firms known for civic, cultural, and educational buildings. As Associate and Director of Marketing, she guides strategic brand positioning, proposal development, communications, digital content creation, and award submissions for a firm founded in 1958 with a distinguished 60-year legacy of sustainable, human-centered design. Her role encompasses supporting an internationally acclaimed practice with major projects including the Canadian War Museum, Canadian Embassy in Tokyo, and pioneering mass timber buildings.
Her expertise spans civic architecture, cultural institutions, post-secondary educational facilities, and sustainable building design marketing. Katie brings specialized knowledge in research-informed marketing strategy, leveraging data-driven tools to track societal trends and align messaging with evolving client needs. With over 15 years of AEC marketing experience and a Bachelor of Fine Arts from NSCAD University, she combines creative storytelling with strategic business development expertise.
Her background directing educational programming at Canada’s Design Museum (Design Exchange) provides unique perspective in crafting compelling narratives that elevate architectural firms’ visibility and connect with diverse stakeholder communities.
Katie demonstrates exceptional professional leadership through her CPSM certification achievement and prominent board service with SMPS Ontario, currently serving as President-Elect and previously as Director of Programming and Education. Her leadership trajectory within one of Canada’s most active SMPS chapters positions her to guide strategic direction for professional development programs, educational initiatives, and networking events that benefit hundreds of AEC marketing professionals throughout Ontario and beyond.
As SMPS Ontario President-Elect, Katie champions knowledge sharing, mentorship, and professional development across the architecture, engineering, and construction industry. Her previous role as Director of Programming and Education demonstrated her commitment to creating valuable learning opportunities, including facilitating the chapter’s Community of Practice for proposals professionals and organizing industry conferences. Under her leadership, SMPS Ontario achieved record attendance at events and strengthened programming that supports CPSM certification preparation and career advancement.
Katie’s thought leadership extends to conference speaking, including presentations at the Society for College and University Planning (SCUP) conferences and participation in SMPS artificial intelligence in AEC marketing programs. Her professional development journey reflects continuous learning commitment, including completing post-graduate certification in Interactive Digital Media and Visual Storytelling from Ryerson University’s Chang School of Continuing Education.
Her dedication to elevating the AEC marketing profession encompasses facilitating peer learning, developing educational content, and creating platforms for knowledge exchange that strengthen the entire Canadian architecture and construction marketing community.
