With over 12 years of professional services marketing experience including 5+ years in the AEC industry, she excels at translating complex policy issues into compelling narratives that engage business leaders, elected officials, and community stakeholders. Her background spans architecture and engineering marketing, where she led proposal development for large-scale projects exceeding $150 million in total construction value across civic, educational, healthcare, and institutional sectors throughout Central Florida.
Kassia demonstrates exceptional civic and professional leadership through her CPSM certification and extensive volunteer service with organizations that strengthen Lakeland’s business and professional community. As Past Chair of EMERGE Lakeland, the premier young professionals organization serving ages 21-42, she led strategic initiatives focused on professional development, community engagement, and networking programs that benefit hundreds of emerging business leaders throughout the Greater Lakeland area. EMERGE Lakeland operates as a partnership between the Lakeland Chamber of Commerce and United Way of Central Florida, providing structured committee leadership opportunities in marketing, membership, professional development, events, and volunteerism.
During her EMERGE leadership tenure spanning multiple roles including Chair, Vice Chair, Events Committee Chair, and Professional Development Chair since 2017, Kassia created comprehensive programming that connects young professionals with established community leaders, facilitates board service training through the EMERGE Serves program, and promotes philanthropic engagement throughout Polk County. Kassia’s transition from AEC marketing at Straughn Trout Architects to chamber leadership demonstrates her strategic understanding of how business development, communications, and advocacy intersect to drive economic growth. At Straughn Trout, she managed winning proposals for complex projects including educational institutions, civic facilities, and cultural venues, developing expertise in stakeholder engagement and strategic positioning that now informs her public affairs work.
Her academic credentials include dual master’s degrees—Master of Arts in Mass Communication/Public Relations from the University of Florida and Master of Business Administration with Marketing focus from Florida Southern College—complementing her Bachelor of Arts in Political Economy and Economics from Florida Southern College.
