Julie leads business development for NV5 Buildings & Technology (formerly The Sextant Group), a national technology consulting firm providing audiovisual, information and communications technology (ICT), acoustics, security, and lighting design services to architects, engineers, and building owners. She develops strategic partnerships with design firms and end-user clients across education, healthcare, corporate, government, cultural arts, sports and recreation, and justice markets. Her role encompasses identifying project opportunities, building long-term relationships, and positioning NV5’s vendor-neutral technology expertise.
With over 17 years of specialized experience in technology consulting for the built environment, Julie brings comprehensive knowledge of how technology and pedagogy interact to shape learning, collaboration, communication, and entertainment facilities. Her background combines interior design education with deep understanding of audiovisual systems, smart building technologies, and future-proofed infrastructure planning. She excels at connecting technical consulting capabilities with architectural and engineering design processes.
Julie’s professional approach centers on authentic collaboration, curiosity, and commitment—building relationships that evolve into lasting friendships and mentorships. She describes herself as a “business development force of nature” who loves making new friends and is genuinely passionate about her work, frequently sharing “I LOVE MY JOB” with colleagues.
Julie’s thought leadership extends through her role as interviewer and content creator for NV5’s “Technically Speaking” series, where she conducts conversations with technical experts to share innovation and insights with the professional AEC community. Her 2021 article “The Harmony of Architecture and Acoustics: The Magic’s in the Music” demonstrates her ability to translate complex technical concepts into accessible content that educates architects, engineers, and building owners on the value of specialized consultants.
Throughout her career, Julie has championed the importance of technology planning in the early design phases, helping design teams understand how learning pedagogy, workplace collaboration, and user experience should inform building infrastructure decisions. Her vendor-neutral perspective—free from manufacturer bias—allows her to provide objective guidance that prioritizes client needs and long-term facility performance.
Julie’s commitment to professional development includes maintaining her CPSM credential since 2011, staying current with emerging technologies, and continuously expanding her network across multiple markets and geographic regions. She serves as mentor to emerging business development professionals, sharing insights on relationship building, authentic communication, and curiosity-driven business development.
Her career progression includes experience spanning contract furniture sales (Steelcase, Kimball, KI) to technology consulting, giving her unique perspective on how workplace design, furniture systems, and technology infrastructure must work together to create successful environments.
