With over 24 years of AEC industry experience, Fawn specializes in developing winning strategies for complex pursuits spanning higher education, civic infrastructure, theme park entertainment, aviation, data centers, seismic and historic renovations, sports facilities, hospitality, laboratories, residential, office, and retail projects. Her involvement in more than 800 pursuit efforts demonstrates deep expertise in translating technical capabilities into competitive advantages.
Fawn’s unique background combines technical proficiency with strategic marketing acumen. Starting in administrative roles that included graphic design and IT support, she rapidly advanced through marketing leadership positions at prominent engineering and construction firms including PCL Construction, CDM Smith, and West Yost Associates. Her career progression reflects a pattern of leaving improved corporate systems, marketing strategies, and operational processes at every organization she’s served.
Her approach integrates technology adoption, strategic thinking, and visual communication to develop pursuit strategies that resonate with sophisticated client audiences across public and private sectors.
Fawn exemplifies transformational leadership through her FSMPS designation (Fellow of SMPS, awarded 2010), CPSM certification, and extraordinary contributions to advancing professional services marketing at chapter, regional, and national levels. Her leadership spans thought leadership, professional education, volunteerism, and industry recognition that demonstrates sustained excellence over nearly two decades of SMPS involvement.
As Secretary of the SMPS Foundation Board of Trustees (2026-27), Fawn helps guide the Foundation’s mission of supporting valuable research and scholarships that fuel the AEC marketing profession. Her national leadership includes serving as co-author and editor of the SMPS Markendium textbook series—the comprehensive six-volume Body of Knowledge that defines professional services marketing practice. This contribution alone has educated thousands of AEC marketing professionals and established the educational foundation for CPSM certification.
Fawn’s chapter leadership tenure with SMPS Los Angeles demonstrates sustained commitment and transformational impact. During her 2018-2019 presidency, she led strategic initiatives that strengthened chapter programming, member engagement, and professional development opportunities. Her earlier involvement included serving as CPSM Committee Chair (2014-2015), Professional Development Director (2015-2017), and President-Elect (2017-2018), providing continuity of leadership across multiple board cycles.
In 2024, Fawn received SMPS Los Angeles’s most prestigious honor—the Leonardo Award—recognizing her as a visionary leader who embodies the spirit of Leonardo da Vinci as “a technophile, a strategist, a visual story-teller, a teacher, a mentor, and a tinkerer.” The award citation specifically highlighted her tireless advocacy for SMPS, offering pro-bono technical courses for chapters throughout the United States and Canada, and sharing valuable experiences and insights at regional and national SMPS conferences including Build Business, Amplify A/E/C, Fellows Forum, and CPSM Forum.
Her thought leadership extends beyond SMPS to include presenting for industry organizations including ENR (Engineering News-Record), NAWIC (National Association of Women in Construction), and the ACE Mentoring Program of America. Fawn regularly facilitates educational sessions on strategy development, leadership growth, and best practices, helping AEC marketing professionals nationwide elevate their strategic capabilities.
Fawn’s volunteer contributions extend to community organizations including DIY Girls, LA Food Bank, CANstruction, and PCL-United Way partnerships. She leads the Pacific Regional CPSM Study Group as a presenter, helping prepare hundreds of marketing professionals for CPSM certification through virtual study sessions that review all six domains of practice.
Her strategic session titled “Become a Professional Opportunist – Being Strategic with How You Strategize” has become a popular educational program at SMPS conferences, helping marketing professionals identify their unique strategic capabilities and maximize their individual impact.
