Christine drives comprehensive strategic communications for R&M Consultants, Inc., a multi-disciplinary professional services firm founded in 1974 that has grown to become one of Alaska’s most respected engineering and surveying companies. As Communications Manager, she leads strategic communications planning, content marketing strategy and development, social media management, media relations, internal communications, and proposal management for a firm delivering innovative cold region design solutions across Alaska and throughout the Arctic.
Her expertise spans civil engineering, geotechnical, surveying, and environmental consulting marketing with deep specialization in brand storytelling, technical content interpretation, and strategic communications planning. As a self-described “Brand Storyteller and Technical Interpreter,” Christine brings comprehensive knowledge of communicating complex engineering solutions across airports, construction administration, contaminated sites, geology, geotechnical services, land surveying, environmental planning, hydrology, water resources, and municipal infrastructure serving communities throughout Alaska.
With over 17 years of communications and marketing experience—including 10+ years in the AEC industry—Christine has contributed to marketing excellence across engineering consulting (R&M Consultants where she has progressed from Marketing Coordinator to Senior Marketing Coordinator to Communications Manager), technology marketing (ACB Solutions as Marketing Manager), legal services (Surveyors Exchange), and arts retail (Aurora Fine Art Gallery). Her diverse background provides valuable cross-sector perspective that enhances strategic positioning for Alaska’s unique cold region engineering challenges.
Christine’s proven track record includes leading R&M’s website redesign and development, creating an innovative SharePoint-based intranet that transformed employee engagement and communication, authoring thought leadership articles on internal communications and complete streets planning, and managing proposal efforts that have won significant infrastructure projects throughout Alaska. Her strategic approach to communications emphasizes R&M’s mission, expertise, and culture while translating technical engineering concepts into compelling narratives for diverse audiences.
Christine demonstrates exceptional professional leadership through her CPSM certification earned in 2015 and distinguished service to SMPS Alaska, including serving as Chapter President (2016-2017) and Immediate Past President. Under her presidential leadership, SMPS Alaska earned 1st place in the Medium Chapter category at the national level, judged on overall chapter management and activities including programs and education, leadership and chapter management, membership, communications, and financial health. This prestigious national recognition reflects Christine’s strategic vision and collaborative leadership approach.
Beyond chapter presidency, Christine led SMPS Alaska to win 1st place for the annual educational seminar held in April 2015, demonstrating her commitment to advancing professional development programming. Her service as Immediate Past President on the AGC of Alaska Build Alaska Podcast reflects her dedication to construction industry storytelling and knowledge sharing, helping communicate the history of construction in Alaska and opportunities for future industry participation.
As a passionate advocate for advancing professional communications expertise, Christine is currently pursuing a Master of Arts in Strategic Communications from Washington State University (2021-2023), building on her Bachelor of Arts in Journalism and Public Communications from University of Alaska Anchorage. This commitment to graduate-level professional development—undertaken while maintaining full-time communications leadership at R&M—demonstrates exceptional dedication to elevating strategic communications practice in the AEC industry.
Christine’s thought leadership contributions include authoring “The Importance of Internal Communications” published in the Summer 2020 edition of AGC of Alaska Contractor Magazine, providing strategic frameworks for internal communication excellence. She also authored “Complete Streets for Midtown” published in the Summer/Fall 2018 issue of UrbanStreets Anchorage, demonstrating her ability to communicate complex planning and infrastructure concepts to public audiences.
As a lifelong Alaskan and self-described “Alaskan farm girl” who grew up on a hay farm hauling bales, Christine brings authentic understanding of Alaska’s communities, challenges, and opportunities. Her deep roots in Alaska inform her approach to communicating R&M’s mission of improving Alaska’s communities through innovative cold region design solutions. This personal connection to place enhances her ability to tell stories that resonate with Alaskan audiences while positioning R&M’s expertise for clients throughout the Arctic region.
Christine’s professional philosophy centers on improving public communication skills, as evidenced by her pursuit of the Master’s in Strategic Communications. Her commitment to continuous learning—combined with her creative, self-driven approach—positions her as both a technical communications expert and an innovative strategist exploring emerging best practices in AEC marketing and communications.
