Carmen leads comprehensive marketing and communications strategy for one of Texas’ most established construction firms at Satterfield & Pontikes Construction, where she supports the S&P Family of Companies—a $1 billion corporation founded in 1989 with offices throughout Texas and operations extending to New York and Los Angeles. As Vice President of Marketing & Communications, she oversees corporate branding, internal and external communications, proposal development, and business development marketing support for S&P and its seven subsidiaries.
Her expertise spans multiple construction sectors including aviation, commercial, education, government, healthcare, industrial, life sciences, mission critical, and multi-family development. Carmen brings specialized knowledge in general contracting, construction manager-at-risk, and design-build delivery methods serving both public and private sector clients across Texas and beyond.
With over 24 years of AEC industry experience, she has held marketing leadership positions at prominent firms including Pape-Dawson Engineers, BE&K Building Group, FKP Architects, and The Lentz Group, where she launched her career immediately after graduating from University of Houston-Clear Lake.
Carmen demonstrates exceptional professional leadership through her CPSM certification achievement and active service as President of SMPS Houston for the 2025-2026 term—her second time leading the chapter, having previously served as Houston Chapter President in 2013-2014. Her current presidential leadership focuses on enhancing member value through reinstated luncheon programs, expanded educational offerings, return of CPSM exam study groups, and more dynamic networking events, building on her 20+ years of SMPS membership and involvement.
As SMPS Houston President, Carmen brings demonstrated expertise in fostering professional development throughout the Houston AEC marketing community. Her leadership philosophy emphasizes creating transformative experiences for members through continuing education, leadership development, and building lasting professional relationships. She previously served on the CREW Houston Board of Directors from 2021-2022, further demonstrating her commitment to advancing women in commercial real estate.
Carmen’s professional journey reflects a pattern of continuous learning, including earning her CPSM certification in 2005 and completing her B.A. in Communication from University of Houston-Clear Lake. Her commitment to mentoring the next generation of AEC marketing professionals is evident in her ongoing involvement with SMPS, CREW, and other industry organizations. She is particularly known for encouraging emerging professionals to pursue CPSM certification and active SMPS participation to deepen their industry knowledge and build supportive professional networks.
