Carina leads comprehensive marketing strategies and business development initiatives for one of the world’s most prominent engineering and professional services consultancies at WSP USA, where she serves as Assistant Vice President and Southern California Marketing Manager. She supports a global firm with 73,000+ employees across 500 offices serving 40 countries, specializing in transportation infrastructure, environmental services, buildings, water resources, and energy solutions.
As a senior marketing leader, Carina drives strategic pursuit management from opportunity identification through contract award, supporting multidisciplinary engineering teams serving federal, state, and municipal clients. Her expertise spans complex infrastructure projects, environmental consulting, transportation planning, and water resources management for both public sector agencies and private development clients.
With over 20 years of AEC industry experience, Carina has contributed to marketing excellence at prominent firms including Brown and Caldwell, Vista Environmental Consulting, and Winzler & Kelly. Her comprehensive understanding of federal procurement processes and strategic positioning enables effective marketing support for large-scale, mission-critical infrastructure projects throughout California and the Western United States.
Carina demonstrates exceptional professional leadership through her CPSM certification achievement and distinguished service to SMPS San Diego, where she has held virtually every major leadership position over a 15+ year period of continuous chapter involvement. Her leadership journey includes serving as President (2012-2013), President-Elect (2011-2012), Immediate Past President (2013-2014), Communications Director (2013-2015), and Professional Development Director (2005-2010).
As SMPS San Diego President, Carina elevated chapter performance to all-time highs in event attendance, program excellence, and member engagement. She spearheaded the creation of the SMPS San Diego Awards program to attract and engage the broader AEC community, demonstrating her vision for expanding the chapter’s impact beyond traditional boundaries. Her collaborative leadership approach transformed the chapter’s board into what colleagues describe as “an elite chapter within SMPS.”
Carina also served as Co-Chair for the SMPS Pacific Regional Conference (2010-2013), coordinating cross-chapter collaboration and professional development programming that benefited hundreds of AEC marketing professionals across the Western United States. She currently contributes to the chapter’s Lessons in Leadership mentoring program, sharing her two decades of expertise with emerging marketing professionals.
