Barbara brings over 35 years of comprehensive AEC marketing and business development expertise to strategic growth consulting. As a Senior Consultant with Stambaugh Ness’s Strategic Growth Advisory practice, she provides training and consultative services to architecture, engineering, and construction firms nationwide, specializing in the seller-doer model, strategic planning, business development strategy, and communication skills development.
Her career spans leadership roles at nationally recognized firms including WGI, where she served as Vice President of Business Planning directing annual business plans for five revenue-producing divisions. She led strategic planning, capture management, and proposal development initiatives for major transportation infrastructure and multi-discipline engineering projects. Barbara’s expertise encompasses strategic and business planning, pursuit strategy development, proposal management, and technical staff training in client relationship management and business development.
With experience across firms ranging from 200 to 80,000 employees, Barbara understands the unique challenges and opportunities at every organizational scale. Her specialization includes transportation engineering, infrastructure, and multi-discipline professional services marketing serving public sector and institutional clients.
Barbara exemplifies exceptional professional leadership through her extensive contributions to the AEC marketing profession and SMPS at both chapter and national levels. She currently serves as Chair of the SMPS Fellows Committee, guiding the selection and recognition of the profession’s most distinguished leaders. Her four-year tenure as Secretary/Treasurer on the SMPS National Board of Directors demonstrates her commitment to advancing the entire profession through governance and strategic oversight.
At the chapter level, Barbara served six years on the SMPS Central Florida board and was inducted into the chapter’s Hall of Fame, recognizing her sustained impact on the regional AEC marketing community. Her chapter leadership included serving as President, President-Elect, and Treasurer, building programs that supported hundreds of marketing professionals throughout Central Florida.
Barbara’s thought leadership extends to education and training, with published work on business development fundamentals, networking strategies, call planning for technical staff, and positioning for competitive advantage. Her training programs focus on seller-doer development, strategic planning facilitation, and helping technical professionals maximize client relationships. She is passionate about helping firms achieve their growth goals through education, mentoring, and strategic direction.
As Barbara prepares to retire in January 2026 after 46 years in the AEC industry, her legacy includes decades of contributions that have elevated professional services marketing as a discipline and profession.
