Asheya leads PRAXIS Strategic Consulting, a specialized strategy agency serving architecture, engineering, construction firms, commercial real estate organizations, and place-based nonprofits. Her consultancy helps clients connect, communicate, and compete through a community-centered lens prioritizing social justice, diversity, equity, and inclusion. PRAXIS provides strategic marketing, business development, DEI strategy development, community engagement planning, and culturally competent project approach development for organizations operating within the built environment.
With over 20 years of comprehensive AEC and commercial real estate experience, Asheya brings deep expertise in commercial construction management, architectural design, real estate development, and nonprofit marketing spanning public, private, and civic sectors. Her client work ranges from large national corporations to emerging minority-owned small businesses, with project involvement including landmark Dallas-Fort Worth developments and major commercial construction projects throughout the country. She specializes in helping organizations develop authentic DEI strategies that drive measurable business impact while advancing industry equity and inclusion.
Asheya’s practice integrates strategic marketing planning, pursuit management, brand development, CRM implementation, digital marketing, and community engagement with comprehensive DEI consulting, making her uniquely positioned to guide firms toward inclusive growth and competitive advantage.
Asheya’s transformative contributions to AEC marketing and industry equity earned her recognition as a Fellow of SMPS in 2023, joining an elite group of professionals who have demonstrated exceptional impact on advancing the profession. Her FSMPS designation recognizes over 20 years of sustained excellence, thought leadership, and pioneering work in diversity, equity, and inclusion throughout the built environment.
As the founding and inaugural Chair of SMPS National Diversity, Equity & Inclusion Committee (2020-2023), Asheya established the Society’s comprehensive DEI strategy, creating frameworks and resources that transformed how AEC marketing professionals approach equity work. She currently serves as DEI Committee Chair Emeritus, continuing to guide the committee’s evolution while mentoring emerging DEI leaders. Under her leadership, the committee launched groundbreaking initiatives including monthly DEI townhalls, educational resources, and professional development programs that reached thousands of AEC professionals nationwide.
Asheya served two consecutive terms as SMPS Dallas President (2015-2017), becoming the first African-American chapter president in Dallas chapter history. Her presidential leadership strengthened programming, expanded professional development opportunities, and deepened industry connections. The chapter recognized her sustained impact with Hall of Fame induction in 2022, honoring over a decade of transformative service. She continues mentoring chapter leaders while championing initiatives that advance equity and inclusion throughout the regional AEC community.
Beyond SMPS, Asheya’s civic leadership extends to serving as Commissioner on the City of Dallas Skillman Corridor TIF Board (2020-Present), Chair of the Texas Advisory Board for Trust for Public Land, and committee member for Dallas Arboretum DEI initiatives. Her thought leadership includes serving as faculty for Northwestern University’s Leading Racial Equity & Inclusion in Organizations program and speaking at major industry conferences including Amplify A|E|C, regional SMPS events, and built environment forums nationwide.
