AEC marketing professional
As Business Development Manager at QK, Anne leads marketing and business development strategy for a multi-disciplinary professional services firm that has been engineering smarter, stronger communities since 1972. She drives pursuits, shapes brand positioning, and empowers a high-performing marketing team for a firm specializing in civil engineering, land surveying, planning, landscape architecture, construction management, biology, and environmental compliance.
Anne describes herself as a “Proposal Geek and Strategic Storyteller” who thrives at the intersection of creativity, strategy, and collaboration. Her decade of AEC experience spans proposal management, business development, and marketing leadership across engineering consulting firms throughout Colorado. She champions big-picture thinking and small-but-mighty process improvements, having streamlined proposal processes, built content libraries from the ground up, and positioned firms to stand out in competitive markets.
Her expertise encompasses proposal development, interview coaching, brand strategy, market research, content management, and strategic planning. Anne brings energy, clarity, and a people-first mindset to everything she does—from crafting compelling proposals to coaching technical teams for interviews. She focuses on creating marketing efforts that not only win work but build lasting client relationships and elevate firm brands.
Before joining QK, Anne held progressive marketing positions including Marketing Supervisor at Engineering Economics Inc. (EEI) in Golden, Colorado, where she oversaw the marketing department responsible for proposal strategy, website and social media content, and brand recognition. Her career progression demonstrates growth from Business Development Assistant and Project Analyst roles into marketing leadership positions directing comprehensive business development functions.
Anne’s unique background includes a Master of Arts in Sociology from University of Colorado Denver, where she conducted research on virtual identity and published “Identity Within Destiny: Virtual Selves in Virtual Worlds.” This social science foundation provides distinctive insight into audience psychology, storytelling, and relationship building that enhances her strategic marketing approach.
Anne is a fierce advocate for the marketers and proposal professionals who keep the AEC industry moving. She serves on the SMPS Colorado SoCo (Southern Colorado) Committee, where she actively champions proposal managers and marketing professionals throughout the region. Her professional philosophy centers on elevating voices and amplifying impact: “When we elevate our voices, we elevate our impact.”
Her CPSM certification represents her commitment to professional excellence and mastery of marketing best practices for the AEC industry. Anne uses her platform to advocate for recognition of proposal professionals as strategic contributors rather than administrative support—emphasizing how skilled proposal management directly impacts firm success and growth.
Anne’s sociology research background, including her published work on virtual identity and community building, informs her approach to professional advocacy. She understands how professional communities function and how individual contributions create collective impact. This perspective shapes her committee work and her dedication to building stronger professional networks within SMPS Colorado.
At QK, Anne has introduced methods, processes, and standards that streamline proposal response workflows while maintaining quality and creativity. She has created comprehensive content libraries, developed pursuit strategies, and built systems that empower marketing teams to work more efficiently. Her process improvements have positioned QK to compete effectively while supporting the professional development of her marketing team.
Anne’s advocacy extends to her daily work, where she bridges the gap between technical expertise and compelling storytelling. She coaches engineers and technical professionals for interviews, helping them articulate their value and connect authentically with clients. This mentorship approach reflects her belief that strong communication skills elevate entire project teams, not just marketing departments.
Her people-first mindset drives her leadership style. Anne recognizes that behind every successful proposal and winning interview is a team of dedicated professionals whose contributions deserve recognition. She actively works to elevate the profile of marketing and proposal management as critical business development functions that require strategic thinking, creativity, and specialized expertise.
