Andrea brings over 28 years of comprehensive AEC marketing and business development expertise to Alaska’s infrastructure development community. As Chief Marketing and Administrative Officer at R&M Consultants, Inc., she leads a dynamic team of marketers, communications professionals, and graphic designers supporting one of Alaska’s premier employee-owned consulting firms. R&M, founded in 1969, is a 100+ person multi-discipline firm specializing in cold regions engineering and design across Alaska from offices in Anchorage, Fairbanks, Juneau, and Wasilla.
Her expertise spans strategic planning, market research, communications, and proposal development for complex infrastructure projects serving Alaska’s unique environmental and logistical challenges. Andrea specializes in marketing for public sector clients, with nearly 95% of R&M’s work serving airports, harbors, roads, public facilities, utilities, and recreational facilities throughout Alaska. As a firm principal and Board of Directors member, she contributes to senior management decisions and strategic direction.
Andrea holds a Bachelor of Business Administration in Marketing from the University of Alaska Anchorage and completed Diversity and Inclusion for HR certification from Cornell University. Her career spans roles at ASCG Incorporated (now WHPacific) and Alaska state government, bringing comprehensive understanding of both private sector professional services marketing and public agency procurement processes that serve Alaska communities.
Andrea exemplifies exceptional professional leadership through her transformational contributions to both SMPS and Alaska’s AEC marketing community. She currently serves as President-Elect on the SMPS Society Board of Directors (2026), positioning her to become SMPS President in 2027—representing the highest elected position in the organization. Her Society leadership includes two years as At-Large Director (2023-2025) and serving as SMPS Foundation Board Liaison, guiding strategic direction for the entire profession.
At the chapter level, Andrea was instrumental in re-establishing SMPS Alaska in 2011 as a founding member, building the chapter from the ground up to serve Alaska’s geographically dispersed AEC marketing community. Her transformational chapter presidency earned recognition as SMPS Chapter President of the Year in 2014.Andrea successfully brought the Pacific Regional Conference to Anchorage in 2017, serving as Conference Co-Chair and hosting nearly 200 attendees—demonstrating that major industry events could thrive in Alaska despite logistical challenges.
Andrea’s commitment to professional development extends beyond SMPS. She serves on the University of Alaska Anchorage College of Business and Public Policy Advisory Board, advocating for marketing education and bridging academia with industry practice. She actively champions Qualifications-Based Selection (QBS)through leadership with ACEC of Alaska, Alaska Professional Design Council, and Alaska Municipal League, advocating for procurement practices that prioritize expertise over low-bid approaches.
As a member of Anchorage Rotary Club, Andrea contributes to community service while building cross-sector relationships that strengthen Alaska’s professional services industry. Her mentoring philosophy emphasizes opening doors for future marketers, stating: “I’m grateful to marketers before me for opening the door and as a Fellow, I will hold it open for those who follow.”
