Professional expertise

Amber leads comprehensive marketing strategy and business development for JE Dunn Construction’s Houston operations, one of the nation’s premier family and employee-owned construction companies with 100 years of excellence. As Marketing Manager based in Houston, she drives strategic positioning, proposal coordination, and client relationship development for a construction firm that has grown from a $1.4 million company with 35 employees in 1964 to become one of America’s largest domestic general building contractors with $6.5 billion revenue, 4,000+ employees, and 26 offices nationwide.

Her expertise spans construction marketing with specialized knowledge in business development, marketing strategy, proposal management, client communications, design-build promotion, and relationship cultivation across commercial, healthcare, education, industrial, and civic construction sectors. Amber brings exceptional depth gained through progressive career advancement from Marketing Assistant at Teal Construction through Marketing Coordinator and Sales Manager roles before joining JE Dunn Construction—demonstrating 20+ years of construction industry marketing expertise focused on commercial and residential sectors.

With over two decades of professional experience in the AEC industry since becoming an SMPS member in 2005, Amber has built a distinguished career characterized by strategic thinking, relationship development, and authentic passion for construction marketing. Her comprehensive knowledge of JE Dunn’s full-service capabilities—encompassing construction management, design-build, integrated project delivery, preconstruction services, and innovative solutions through divisions like Aptitude (intelligent building integration) and Blue Hat (equipment and tools)—enables effective marketing leadership for an employee-owned firm where pride of ownership drives excellence.

Industry leadership

Amber demonstrates exceptional professional leadership through her CPSM certification achievement and active service on two SMPS Houston committees: Communications Committee and Design Awards Committee. Her dual committee leadership positions her as a key contributor to chapter communications strategy, member engagement, and recognition of design excellence throughout the Houston AEC community—demonstrating commitment to advancing the profession through volunteer service spanning nearly 20 years of SMPS membership since joining in 2005.

As Communications Committee member, Amber contributes to chapter messaging, member outreach, digital engagement, and strategic communications that strengthen SMPS Houston’s connection with its membership base. Her concurrent service on the Design Awards Committee positions her to recognize and celebrate exceptional AEC design and marketing excellence, evaluating submissions and promoting recognition programs that elevate Houston’s design community.

Amber’s authentic personality shines through in her professional engagement. When asked about her “dream job” during her 2019 SMPS Spotlight interview, she responded with characteristic humor: “A travelling, Olympic roller-skater, fashionista. Sort of a cross between the jobs of Anthony Bourdain, Anna Wintour, and Simone Biles, if she roller-skated. (Hey, no one said that it had to be a REAL job!)” This playful authenticity combined with serious professional dedication creates approachable leadership style that makes her an effective ambassador for both JE Dunn and SMPS Houston.

Her passion for Houston’s food scene demonstrates community pride. When asked what she enjoys most about Houston, Amber declared: “The food! I truly believe that our food scene is the best in Texas, and can definitely compete with big-boy foodie cities like New York, New Orleans, Chicago, etc.” This regional advocacy extends to her promotion of Houston construction projects and celebration of local AEC community achievements.
