Alabama Shipyard Secures $16.8M Navy Contract for USNS John Ericsson Deactivation

Alabama Shipyard LLC of Mobile, Alabama, has been awarded a $16.84 million firm-fixed-price contract for a 98-day shipyard availability to support the deactivation of the Military Sealift Command fleet oiler USNS John Ericsson (T-AO 194). The contract includes a base scope of work plus three unexercised options that, if fully exercised, would raise the total value to $17.16 million. Work will take place in Mobile, Alabama, beginning February 28, 2026, and is scheduled for completion by June 5, 2026. The award is fully funded with FY 2026 Navy operations and maintenance funds, which will expire at the end of the fiscal year. The contract was awarded as a small business set-aside through competitive solicitation on the governmentwide Point of Entry website, with three offers received, and is administered by the Military Sealift Command in Norfolk, Virginia (Contract No. N3220526C0004).
